Terra is a performance ecosystem spearheaded by Michael Wirth, Jackson Cole and David Hedges that combines qualitative and quantitative strategies to improve an athlete’s capacity to move through mountains. At Terra, we get to know our Athletes - because training for alpine pursuits encompasses much more than elementary strength or fitness training regimes. We take a holistic approach to training physiology and improving mental and technical thresholds to maximize our athlete’s movement in the mountains.  

A general word around positivity, consistency and sustainability: the first and foremost goal of training is for it to be a positive force in your life; the second goal is thoughtful consistency; and the third is living a holistically healthful life. Truly enjoying the daily training and the big sessions will yield the greatest gains for an athlete: when you’re excited for training, harder efforts will feel easier. Furthermore, a general excitement and positive attitude will lend itself to developing an ingrained passion for training – whether that’s in the pursuit of adventuring, having solid race performances, or consistent health. A positive attitude and a close relationship to the activities you are pursuing and the environment you are pursuing them in will minimize burnout and keep you coming back day in and day out.

Our coaches—David, Jackson, and Michael—bring diverse backgrounds and deep expertise to the table. With experience in challenges such as the Nolan’s 14 FKT, international Skyrunning competitions, the Leadville 100, glacier travel, steep ski mountaineering, and long alpine traverses, we’re equipped to guide you no matter your starting point or objective.

At Terra, we use a thresholds paradigm to assess and guide your development as a mountain athlete. This approach helps us identify your current strengths and areas for growth, then tailor a plan to help you meet your goals—whether that’s finishing your first trail race or tackling a high-alpine FKT like the Matterhorn.
